Issues Today: Body Confidence

Did you know that the body fat of models and actresses portrayed in the media is at least 50% less than that of a healthy women, or that men worry about how they look as much as women do? Body image is the concept of how we think and feel about our appearance. This book looks at the issues surrounding body image today, including the impact of the media on how we view ourselves, and what we can do to increase our confidence.
The information comes from a variety of sources, including government reports and statistics, newspapers and magazine articles, surveys and polls, academic research and literature from charities and lobby groups; articles have been tailored to an 11 to 14 age group. Additionally, at the end of each chapter are two pages of activities relating to the articles and issues raised in that chapter.
